Bruno Fitoussi, born in Paris in 1958. Fitoussi learned architecture but after being graduated from school, he ran a successful music company. After 4 years at work, he thought that he had enough money to pursue poker as a career, and then started playing high-limit games with friends.
He is the owner and manager of France’s first poker room, the refined Aviation Club de France and also runs a gaming travel agency “Vip-Gaming.com.”
He said, “It didn't really seem like work to me. I was helping to set up a club and I loved doing it. I used what I had learned from the Americans and the English to establish standard rules for poker play in France.”
He further states about the time he spent in Las Vegas (1991): “I visited the Mecca of poker, saw the great players and learnt much more. I learned a great deal about how to play limit games. I actually loved Vegas but my future wife Isabelle, who is a clothes designer for Kenzo, was homesick for Europe.”
Bruno was optimistic and always tried to spread the knowledge of poker to a larger section of European players, and is known as France’s Ambassador of Poker.
Poker Career:
Bruno went to Las Vegas in 1991 to enhance his poker skills and understanding of the game. There, he was enthralled on seeing the high stake games, and later started playing such games. Later, he considered making a living in Vegas, but he was missing hid future partner Isabelle in Europe. So, in 1995, he started establishing poker games in Paris' Aviation Club de France to accompany his family, and 4 years later, Bruno has quit his Aviation club position in pursuit of starting the VIP-Gaming.
Fitoussi first televised poker outing was at the original poker show Late Night Poker.
In 2002 he won the final table at the first No-Limit Hold'em World Heads-Up Championship in Vienna, Austria defeating Amarillo Slim, and this was his first win in a major tournament.
In 2003, he finished 8th in the first World Poker Tour (WPT) Championship and cashed in two major Las Vegas tournaments. Fitoussi also finished 15th in the $10,000 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.
In 2005, Fitoussi finished 2nd in the $1,500 Seven Card Razz event. |
