Before becoming a professional poker player, Donnacha O'Dea was a keen swimmer. He in fact has represented Ireland in the 1968 Olympics. His mother Siobhan McKenna was a stage and screen actress. He was also been a bookmaker in Ireland and used to do lot of sports betting, particularly on golf and tennis.
When he was at college, he used to play a lot of poker. He did a business degree from Trinity in Dublin, but like he said, he spent most of the time on poker. He was also undergoing extensive training on swimming at the same time, and as such, was left with very little time for the academics. He really felt great representing the country and felt that he was lucky enough to do it at the highest level for my sport.
