Marcel Luske “The Flying Dutchman” is one of the game’s brightest and most cherishing characters at the poker table. Before turning to professional poker, he owned a pub in Amsterdam.

He first attained reputation and fame in 2004 WSOP, where everyone was able to spot his crazy and peculiar sense of humor. You can always see Marcel at the poker table, normally wearing a suit with his upside down sunglasses as his trademark.

He is ranked at No. 12 on the European Poker Tour's All Time Money List after his 9th place finish at the 2005 Scandinavian Open in Denmark. Marcel tasted success in 9 different Hold'em, Omaha, and Stud events in the year 2001, when he was named European Player of the Year.  He opines that the best and the only way to understand and enhance the knowledge on the game is to play it, and feels that the books on poker strategies are very useful.

Poker Career:

Marcel Luske, who resides in Amsterdam, is arguably called as the best-known European poker player. He is voted as Europe’s “Player of the Year “without even getting a single vote from anyone in Holland.” Luske learned poker at the market cafes after quitting his salesman job. He made 2 appearances on the Late Night Poker TV show. Luske finished in 14th at in the 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event and 10th place in the 2004 WSOP Main Event.

Now all these achievements in the 2003 and 2004 WSOP Main Events took him only next to Dan Harrington’s back-to-back final tables those years. He has several money finishes at the WSOP, and one of them also includes a 2nd place finish at the 7-Card Stud tourney where he earned $120,800. He was twice awarded with the European Poker Player of the Year in 2001 and 2004. Interestingly, Luske predicted Rob Hollink to be the winner at the 2005 European Poker Tour grand final and indeed turned out to be the correct prediction - and in the following year, Luske made it to the final of the EPT.
